Desiree De Spong is a globally recognized authority in lymphatic health, with more than 25 years of clinical practice behind her. Over the course of her career she has guided over 175,000 patient treatments, giving her a depth of hands-on experience few practitioners in her field can match.
She is the creator of Flowpresso®, an FDA-cleared Class II medical device that brings together cyclic pneumatic compression, thermotherapy, and deep pressure stimulation. Since launching in 2020, Flowpresso® has been adopted by licensed healthcare practitioners in more than 500 clinics worldwide. Desiree has also led research exploring the role of Flowpresso® therapy in supporting sleep and recovery among first responders, work that has informed how the device is applied in occupational health and recovery settings internationally.
Her expertise is grounded in rigorous training. Desiree studied lymphatic therapy under leading specialists across the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, and held a research fellowship at Flinders University in Adelaide under Professor Neil Pillar. She built on this foundation to develop the Lymphatic Optimization methodology, a clinical framework that integrates trauma-informed care with evidence-based lymphatic science.
Desiree is also a sought-after educator and speaker. She has presented at the A4M Conference, served as Lead Organizer of the Australasian Lymph Summit, and spoken at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC. Since 2009 she has delivered lymphatic education to practitioners across multiple continents, and she founded Aetiology Academy to formalize practitioner certification in the field.
